At HBOS, we believe in giving something back to communities we work in. From promoting carbon-neutral policies to delivering charitable initiatives, we're focused on finding new ways to make a positive difference.
A closer look at our environment
We're making the environment a priority. Our initiatives cover a wide range of areas including:
- Measures to reduce energy and water usage
- Measures to reduce business travel by promoting car sharing, video services and teleconferences
- Reducing waste and encouraging recycling initiatives
- Incorporating new environmental specifications in construction and renovation projects
Charity begins at work
Through the HBOS Foundation, an independent registered charity, we're able to offer financial support to other charities and not-for-profit organisations. We also encourage our colleagues to give their time and skills to local communities. In 2007 alone, over 9,000 HBOS colleagues volunteered with charities and community groups across the UK. Most of this energy was dedicated to improving education, financial awareness, employment opportunities and open spaces in deprived communities.
